Desert Babe

I love going to the desert with DG on the weekends and camping.  When we were dating we spent a ton of our time there, so I think that’s part of why I enjoy is so much now–there are so many happy memories.  The kids love going to the desert too.  They are kind of camp bums!  Now that I have EJ I don’t get to ride my horse or do anything too exciting with DG, but we made our own fun by going on drives and hikes.  I love the spring because there are baby calves–that’s primarily why DG is out there, to ride through the first calf heifers a couple times a day, making sure that they don’t have any trouble having their first calf.  Once a calf is born they will rope and tag it so that come branding time we know which group of cows that calf belongs to.  We also do a lot of driving around to check the ponds and make sure that the cows still have water.  This is the kind of stuff that I grew up doing with my dad, so I’m so glad my kids get to experience it too!

Razor ride wore EJ out!

Our horse pen is in the rocks, using them to form one side.

EJ LOVES to be forward facing in the Ergo. This is how I carried her for our hike. She enjoyed looking around and kicked her legs the whole time.
