We Moved!

So my little family’s house is finally finished* and we have moved in!  I say finished with an asterisk to explain that we are waiting on some final details and have something to address/finish like mirrors in two of the bathrooms, frameless shower doors to be installed, kitchen backsplash, still need the top installed on the exterior of the chimney, chandelier in the family room (it’s on backorder, still), phone needs to be hooked up, my dishwasher doesn’t work (or may I just don’t know how to use it?) and our refrigerator is missing a shelf.  Those are all pretty minor fixes that shouldn’t take too long once they are being done.  My sister in law helped me decorate a few days ago and I will say that things are coming together nicely.  I’m so excited to have room!  Not only room to live in, but storage space too.  I plan on doing a home tour in later posts when I take some pictures with my real camera, but for now here’s a glimpse at my favorite decorated spot.

Building a home was such a major stress in my life.  Now that it’s finished I feel like I have so much extra time each day!  I also feel more organized just because everything has a place and things aren’t cluttered.  Hopefully the organization will pass on to my kids too.  On that note, I ordered a Daily System from Pottery Barn.  I considered making my own command center, but the more I looked at them on pinterest, the more overwhelmed I became.  The requirements I had were a calendar, place to put notes from school, lunch menus and invitations as well as a “cubby” for each family member’s papers, chore lists or homework.  My hope is that this will keep our back bench and kitchen counter clutter-free. If there ever was a theme for this period of my life, I think that’s it.

What helps you stay free from clutter in your house?  Any major things I’m missing?
