Friday Five

This day is already starting out as a struggle. It’s a good thing that EJ is home with her dad rather than at the babysitter because I failed to make sure she had a very green shirt for today.  Thankfully BG had a few options in his closet. On the menu for dinner tonight? Corned beef and cabbage. I blogged about this recipe earlier this week. Now for my favorite things recently.

Although I hate the time change and EJ hasn’t slept well, we love that it’s light out longer every night. DG has been taking the kids outside in the evenings to play baseball and rope the dummy. EJ is sure to be a tomboy at this rate, but she loves it.

When I’m not eating Cabury mini eggs, I try to eat healthy. I roasted carrots, broccoli and cauliflower in the oven, then added pre-cooked shrimp near the end.  These were seasoned with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder and a dash of cayenne pepper. Everyone liked the dinner, including my kids!

These “clear knee” mom jeans that Nordstrom has for sale for $95 have had the best internet commentary of the week. When a pair of jeans is so ridiculous that they make the Today show, you know there’s something wrong with them! Comments about the jeans have had me laughing so hard.

Growing up I played Monopoly wrong–I always tried to get the most money, then wondered why it took days to finish the game. My husband played with BG and I and showed us how to play by getting monopolies and making the other players go broke. I’m not sure how it took me so long to learn the right way to play. Anyhow, we’ve played a few games this week and it’s been so much fun. I can’t believe how good BG is at his math and money skills too.

Our grocery store got fresh strawberries in this week. They’re really good and not too expensive right now so I bought a bunch. Apparently the kids and I can eat a 1 pound carton a day. Much healthier than crackers though so I let it go!

What are your plans for the weekend? I’m planning on going to a pageant tonight, then cowgirling Saturday and Sunday. Hopefully the weather stays nice and I’ll get a little bit of a tan.
